Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been earned on hard surfaces

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial title for nearly 30 months with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the competition final.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has experienced a torrid period, winning just one win at the major tournaments and undergoing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

The player's varied form on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serve in specific - caused him falling of the elite rankings and ultimately parting ways with former trainer his previous coach.

Currently working with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, he has gradually improved in the last few weeks - peaking in a hard-fought three-set triumph over opponent Moutet.

It is his first trophy since the Rome competition and initial on a hard court from spring of that year.

Victory also signifies Medvedev has secured twenty-one victories at 21 distinct competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a competition with my children at once, so to win a title is really nice," said ranked player Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my second daughter Victoria, because the first title I won when my child her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had failed in his previous six finals, including in the German tournament in the past months.

His retrieving play style and recurring emotional displays on the tennis court had caused some to wonder if his capacity to compete at the elite level was finished.

However the athlete has altered his approach in the past month, attempting to approach the net and compete aggressively, reinforced by an better service.

The champion came back from a deficit in the opening set against the tricky opponent, taking 4 of the concluding five games to gain the advantage.

Both players swapped breaks in the middle set before the challenger, bidding for his maiden professional victory, gained dominance to force a decider.

The opponent rescued four early break points in a competitive final set before Medvedev won the break to 15 to close out the victory.

Appropriately, he secured the title with a shot at the net, with Moutet failing to control a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
